Daniel Karasek GRA, MSCS, Spring 2019 - Spring 2020

I am a college graduate from Southern Polytechnic State University with a double bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics and am currently pursuing a master's degree from Kennesaw State in Computer Science with a focus on Data Analytics. In my undergraduate days I did some research in acoustical engineering, graph theory, and combinatorics. I have recently done some research in the field of bioinformatics involving the creation of an algorithm to perform random lasso using Apache Spark. I'm currently splitting what free time I have away from school among writing for Immersive Atlanta, playing Fortnite, going to festivals and concerts, and working on personal projects. I do creative non-fiction writing for Immersive Atlanta, which translate to doing show coverage and music reviews. I've attended over 20 music festivals so far including Shaky Knees, Music Midtown, Beale Street, Hangout, Firefly, Bonnaroo, and HiJinx. My latest personal project has been in developing an inventory management system using computer vision on a Raspberry Pi. I am looking to extend this project to the Pi Zero and create basic security cameras that can connect to a local network. I ultimately want to create a product to bring to market where anyone without technical knowledge can use it. I think technology should be for anyone that wants to use it. My research in cybersecurity will be focused around machine learning. To be determined.
